ABSR was founded by Linda and Alfred Borg. Alfred has been involved in rail safety for over 10 years and currently holds Protection Officer Level 4, Handsignaller Level 2, Safeworking Level 2 and TVO tickets in NSW and Protection Officer Level 2 (Track Protector 2/Reg 11) in South Australia.
In 2004, Alfred was approached by Degnan Constructions to manage and supply Safe Working staff during major station upgrade works at Thirroul. We also began supplying Protection Officers and Handsignallers to RailCorp renewals and Barclay Mowlem (now Laing O’Rourke). Our expansion saw us register as a company in February 2005 and in 2010 we expanded further to Victoria and South Australia
The ABSR head office is in Bulli, south of Sydney and our employees are based across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. We have provided Safeworking, Protection Officers, Handsignallers, Track Certifiers and Track Vehicle Operators throughout NSW, Protection Officers in Queensland, Train Track Protectors in Victoria and Track Protectors, Rail Safety Workers and Track Vehicle Operators in South Australia.
Over the years we have assisted our clients in the successful completion of many easy access projects, shutdown projects, super possessions for renewals, construction and maintenance projects, and commissionings. Most recently we have managed and coordinated the worksite protection for the line duplication at Antiene to Grasstree for BMD and Coleman Rail, United Group Level Crossing Project, finalised the first stage of the Coast to Coast Tram project in South Australia for Thiess Downer EDI Works J V, the Pitnacree bridge project at East Maitland for Daracon/ Arenco and have recently coordinated the safety for Ansaldo STS in the Branxton to Maitland third road project.
